Heaven and Hell
250th Anniversary

This year is the 250th anniversary of the first publication of Heaven and Hell, Emanuel Swedenborg's most popular and influential book. In it, he describes his journeys to the afterlife-the soul's experience of dying and then being resurrected in heaven, how each person finds their community in which to live, and how we can ultimately become angels. Heaven and Hell is a powerful affirmation that we are all born for heaven, regardless of background or religion, and that the choices we make in this world shape our destiny in the next.

In addition to these volumes, the Swedenborg Foundation has released a series of four excerpts from Heaven and Hell as a special celebration of its lasting influence:

What happens to us when we die? Swedenborg gives a detailed description of how a person awakens in heaven after death.

What happens to children when they die? Are the souls of unbaptized children in danger? No, says Swedenborg, who talks about the special place that children have in heaven.

What lifestyle is the best preparation for heaven? We're all destined for heaven when we're born, but a lot can happen in between. This section discusses how people can manifest God's love on earth.

What is the nature of good government? Especially appropriate for an election year, this description of how heaven is governed gives us food for thought in this world.

These four excerpts can be ordered individually or as a set. You can order up to five copies of each, or five sets of four, free of charge. After the first five, there is a nominal charge of $0.25 per copy or $1 per set. To order, please contact the Foundation at 800-355-3222, ext. 10, or e-mail customerservice@swedenborg.com.
