In addition to these volumes, the Swedenborg Foundation has released a series of four excerpts from Heaven and Hell as a special celebration of its lasting influence: What happens to us when we die? Swedenborg gives a detailed description of how a person awakens in heaven after death. What happens to children when they die? Are the souls of unbaptized children in danger? No, says Swedenborg, who talks about the special place that children have in heaven. What lifestyle is the best preparation for heaven? We're all destined for heaven when we're born, but a lot can happen in between. This section discusses how people can manifest God's love on earth. What is the nature of good government? Especially appropriate for an election year, this description of how heaven is governed gives us food for thought in this world.
