It is when we are being reborn, as adults who possess
knowledge, that goodness comes out into the open. Then
we want not so much to know truth as to act on it. Up to
that point, truth existed in the intellect, but afterward it
exists in the will, and when it exists in the will, it exists in
the person—since the will constitutes a person’s real self
Such is the ever-repeating cycle in a person: every
form of secular and religious knowledge enters through
our eyes or ears into our thoughts, from there into our
will, and from there through our thoughts into act. The
starting point can also be the memory, which resembles
inner sight, or the inner eye. A similar cycle begins there,
moving from the inner eye through the thoughts into the
will and from the will through the thoughts into action. If
anything blocks it, the cycle ends in the effort to act, which
proceeds to action as soon as the blockage is removed.
