The intellect comes from the will and reveals the will in
a visual form, so to speak, just as faith issues from neighborly
love and reveals that love in a form, so to speak. The
outward covering of the will, then, is the intellect, and
the outward covering of charity is faith. To put the same
thing another way, the inner core of the intellect is the will,
and the inner core of faith is charity. So advancing from
an outward plane to more inward levels means advanc-
ing from a faith that belongs to the intellect to a faith that
belongs to the will, and therefore from faith to charity.
