In earliest times, there was no Word. Instead there was
direct revelation to the people of the church, and through
it, union. When humankind turned aside from the goodness
it had possessed, this direct revelation died. It was
replaced by another kind. When all this happened, the
Lord provided for a Word to be written that would be
divine in every last detail, even down to the individual
parts of individual words. He made sure it would consist
of purely correspondential language.
