The representation and symbolism in the Word come
from the representations that emerge in the other world.
The people of the earliest church, who were heavenly, and
who interacted with spirits and angels while they were
still alive in this world, acquired them from there. These
representations they handed down to their descendants
and eventually to a generation that knew little about them
except that they had such and such a symbolic meaning.
Because they came from earliest times and were used in
these descendants’ divine worship, though, they treated
them reverently and considered them holy.
