The issue in spiritual challenges is dominance, or which
is going to be in charge—the inner or the outer self,
which is to say the spiritual or the earthly self, since they
oppose one another. When we are being tested, the Lord
governs our inner, spiritual self through angels, and our
outer, earthly self through spirits from hell. The struggle
between them is what we sense as a crisis.
