We are excited to announce that our 2025 publication, Opening the Inner World: Spiritual Healing, Internal Family Systems, and Emanuel Swedenborg is now available as an audiobook. The conversational format of the print book has been carefully maintained, with three different narrators voicing each of the three authors of the book. This complex undertaking was expertly produced by Mary Catherine Jones at The Audiobook Experience.
Where can I purchase the audiobook?
The new audiobook is available on Libro.fm, Audible, and Spotify, and will shortly be available on additional audiobook platforms. (As we undergo updates to the Swedenborg Foundation sales platform, we expect to have a direct sales page on our website for this audiobook by October 1, 2026.)
About Opening the Inner World
Chelsea Rose Odhner, one of the authors of this book and Vice President of Publishing here at the Swedenborg Foundation, is also an Internal Family Systems (IFS) practitioner. As a long-time reader of Emanuel Swedenborgโs works, she could not help but note the potent and fascinating interplay between the IFS model and Swedenborgโs works.
These observations led Chelsea to invite Jonathan S. Rose, Swedenborgian scholar, and Robert Falconer, IFS author, teacher, and trauma therapist, into a recorded dialogue. Chelsea edited these dialogues, which took place over several months, into the book Opening the Inner World.
Opening the Inner World reveals important common ground between IFS and Swedenborg’s spiritual psychology. Throughout the conversation, Bob, Jonathan, and Chelsea explore how Swedenborg’s concept of the inner self closely parallels what IFS calls the Self, while also offering a broader framework of divine inflow and spiritual reality. Together, they wrestle with questions of identity, agency, and transformation: Who are we when you take into account our many parts, burdens, and influences? How do our inner and outer selves come into harmony? Along the way, the discussion offers both a practical lens for applying Swedenborg’s teachings and a deeper spiritual context for understanding IFS.
The fact that this book has turned out to be one of the Swedenborg Foundationโs recent best sellers speaks to the uniqueness of what it offers.
