Keynote Speech by Curtis Childs after Opening Ceremony*
Many seek to leave the bright lights of ego and ambition and return to something innocent and sacred. This mirrors Swedenborg’s description of divine providence calling us back toward our “remains,” and the promise of the peace a heavenly mindset brings. The destination has an obvious draw, but how do we find the way? Curtis will explain how his work has used Swedenborg’s messages to guide “the way” for many spiritual seekers who want to move toward a state of mind and heart described as the New Jerusalem.
*Note:Â The opening ceremony and president’s message start at 7 p.m. PST, followed by brief worship, and then keynote speech at approximately 7:30 p.m. However, it is possible that Curtis’s keynote address could start later depending on length of previous agenda items.
Monday, July 2nd
1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. PT /Â Mini-course presented by Curtis Childs: Swedenborg as Spiritual Duct Tape
How do Swedenborg’s ideas affect people online? As a lifelong Swedenborgian, there have been times when Curtis wondered if Swedenborg’s writings are only comforting to him because he’s familiar with them. The last few exciting years of sending Swedenborg’s message out online and hearing responses from people around the world have him convinced that the message is valuable to everyone, regardless of religious background. In this mini-course, Curtis presents the diverse mosaic of impact that the concepts in Swedenborg are making in all corners of the world.
Both events will be held at the Campus Village buildings at the corner of Tenth Street and San Salvador Street. Please see the link below for up-to-date room locations.
Members of the general public are welcome to attend all events! Please register by May 24th. For a full schedule of events and more information about registration packages and payment, please visit this helpful guide at Swedenborg.org.
Related Invitation: Curtis and other representatives of the Swedenborg Foundation will be arriving in the San Franciso-area, Saturday 6/30, ahead of the start of Convention and would love to meet with local Swedenborgians, viewers of our Swedenborg & Life YouTube show, and supporters of the work we do at the Foundation.
